Troop 302 uses the Scouting program developed by the Boy Scouts of America to provide fun and rewarding experiences to the members of the troop, who are boys ages 11 to 18 (Middle School and High Schoo). The boys are given the responsibility to select and execute their program under the guidance and supervision of the adult leadership. The Senior Patrol Leader and the Patrol Leaders Council are given this charge.

The Scoutmaster is the primary adult in charge of supervising the youth and works with the SPL and PLC to help them carry out their tasks.

There is also a committee, headed by a committee chair, that also provides support and resources.
